Thoughts on David Fincher's "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo"

This is not a movie review, I'm still deciding whether I want to post movie reviews on this blog. However I would like to say I have a copy of the 2011 script by Steven Zaillian with me. Since there is still a lot of anti-piracy nonsense flying around the USA you probably won't be able to get your hands on a copy yourself anytime soon. I will digitize this myself with Adobe Story if anyone here in The Chateaux would be interested. UPDATE: The internet has triumphed over the anti-piracy campaign and is now holding SOPA and PIPA aloft in triumph. The script is now available again here.

While we're on the subject of the script, don't believe the supposed controversy that has also been pestering Fincher's latest work, the change in ending is an improvement, it's just that fans of the Millenium series are a little bit touchy about Stieg Larsson and his material.

Also worthy of mention is Rooney Mara's performance. I was somewhat enraged when I heard that she claimed the role over many other capable and talented actresses including and especially Ellen Page. I mean, Lisbeth Salander is basically just the girl from Hard Candy all grown up. I can now say that I was proven wrong about this, Rooney Mara is a natural born movie star. I might even go so far as to say that she portrayed Lisbeth better than the original Noomi Rapace. She made her seem more like high-functioning autistic rather than a terminator who shops exclusively at Hot Topic.

David Fincher's The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is very good, don't miss it.

P.S. I should also take the precaution and say this movie is not for everyone, there are some nasty scenes including a rape scene.
